Zelpha May (Ruggles) Pruner, 86 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
The daughter of Charles Ernie and Clemie Opal (Garr) Ruggles, she was born on January 27, 1931 in Livonia, Missouri. She was united in marriage to John Eugene Pruner on September 5, 1948 at the Lancaster Baptist Parsonage in Lancaster, Missouri with the Reverend Ben Bradbury officiating. To this union four daughters were born, Donna, Sheryl, Connie and Brenda.
Survivors include her children, Donna Welte and husband, Danny of Lancaster, Missouri, Sheryl Fabyanic and husband, Val of Lancaster, Missouri, Connie Roberts and husband, Mikel of Lancaster, Missouri and Brenda Barner and husband, Michael of Moberly, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, John Welte, Danny C. Welte, James Welte, Mary Fabyanic, Rachel Sly, Jacob Roberts, Katy Roberts and Jacqueline Roberts; 27 great grandchildren; one sister, Audrey McClaskey of Winterset, Iowa; two brothers, Richard Ruggles and wife, Naomi of Santa Cruz, California and David Ruggles and wife, Shirley of Lancaster, Missouri; 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara Ruggles of Des Moines, Iowa, Phyllis Pickering of Livonia, Missouri and Patty Ruggles of Centerville, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other family members.
Zelpha is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on August 14, 2007; two brothers, George Ruggles and Robert Ruggles; two sisters, Bethene Veatch and Mary Lou Ruggles; one grandson, D. C. Welte, Jr and one granddaughter-in-law, Leanne Welte.
Zelpha was a very active member of the Lancaster Baptist Church as long as her health permitted as well as the Gideon International Auxiliary.
Zelpha was a cook at the Schuyler R-I School System in Lancaster, Missouri for 21 1/2 years and then owned and operated the Burger Bar in Lancaster, Missouri for 29 years.
Zelpha loved people and helping them in any way. Her generosity was displayed in all that she did and always saw the good in everyone.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Lonnie Johnson, Pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Twila Anderson and soloist, Cole Tippett. Special musical selections will be "What A Day" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Pallbearers will be John Welte, James Welte, Maverick Welte, James Sly, Logan Welte and Katy Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Welte, Val Fabyanic, Mikel Roberts, Michael Barner, Leo Hovar, Bob Ingersoll, Dick Evans and Quinten Smyser. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
