Wilda Johnson Hoover, 88, of Glenwood, Missouri passed away January 1, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Wilda Eloise Welsh was born in the rural Glenwood, Missouri at the home of her parents, Walter and Wynema (Collins) Welsh, on January 18, 1928. Wilda was united in marriage on September 23, 1944 to Arthur William Johnson Jr. Following their wedding, Art spent the war years in Africa while Wilda continued to live with her parents and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1945. Wilda and Arthur had three children Bruce, Barry and Brenda. Wilda married Ralph William Hoover on March 1, 1986.

Wilda began taking oil painting lessons in 1965. She created beautiful works of art for over 40 years and loved the people she met through her painting and lessons. Wilda loved to travel with her family over the years, including a trip in a pickup camper to Alaska with Art and her children which took over two years of planning. Ralph and Wilda spent winters in Mesa, Arizona for 14 years and also took other trips throughout their marriage. Wilda was a life long believer of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord. She remained continually in prayer for friends and family.

Wilda is survived by her children Bruce Johnson and wife, Brenda of Glenwood, Missouri, Barry Johnson and wife, Julie of The Villages, Florida and Brenda McMillan and husband, Terry of Marceline, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Amy Kiger and husband, Ben, Carrie Benson and husband, Maurice, Jessica Trussell and husband, Matthew, Lisa Cornwell and husband, Brian, Lacy Johnson Okun and husband, Josh, Leeanne Krecic and husband, Jeff, Shawn Clark and wife, Amy, Emmy Clark MacMillan and husband, Jeff, Stacy Cash and husband, Tracy, Shane McMillan and wife, Rachel, Erin Eggleston and husband, Scott; 20 great-grandchildren, Jane and Hannah Kiger, Whitley, Alaina, and Brenna Benson, Ian, Keaton, and Levi Trussell, Hazel and Owen Okun, Lane and Dylan Clark, Ethan and Audrey MacMillan, Alex Cash, Hannah, Emily, and Ella McMillan, Julia and Alex Eggleston. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Helen Welsh of Lancaster, Missouri and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Wilda in death were her parents, Walter Welsh and Wynema Welsh Steele; her twin brothers, Wallace and Walter; husbands, Arthur Johnson and Ralph Hoover; grandson, Nathan Keebler; brothers-in-law, Leslie Fowler and Merlin Shelton; sisters-in-law, Maxine Smith, Blanche Fowler and Betty Shelton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Bob Welsh officiating. Music will be provided by Donna Welte, pianist and Bob Welsh and Susan Welsh, soloists. Special selections will be "His Eye is on the Sparrow", "Because He Lives" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow". Pallbearers will be Ben Kiger, Matthew Trussell, Josh Okun, Maurice Benson, Brian Cornwell, Jeff Krecic, Tracy Cash, Shane McMillan, Terry McMillan and Scott Eggleston. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Schuyler County Nutrition Center and may be entrusted to Norman Funeral Home, 402 W Washington Street, Lancaster, MO 63548. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery in Livonia, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
