Verda Deloris Carpenter

Verda Deloris Carpenter, 94 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.
The daughter of George A. and Edna Frances (Epperson) Shively, she was born on June 21, 1919 in rural Queen City, Missouri. In 1947, Deloris was united in marriage to Marion Edgar Dellinger and to this union one daughter, Betty J. was born. On November 12, 1966, she was united in marriage to Norman Burgher. She was united in marriage to Raymond Lloyd Carpenter on December 15, 1984.
Deloris is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Alderman and husband, Doug of Camdenton, Missouri; step children, Amy Hubbard and husband, William of Kirksville, Missouri and Ann Cowell and husband, Bob of Kirksville, Missouri; 1 step-daughter-in-law, Barbara Carpenter of St. Joseph, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Curt Alderman of Overland Park, Missouri and Kylie Alderman of Camdenton, Missouri; 2 brothers, Max Shively and wife, Neva of Lancaster, Missouri and Rex Shively and wife, Faye of Ottumwa, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Nancy Kerby of Lancaster, Missouri and other family members.
Deloris is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Marion Edgar Dellinger on May 6, 1957, Norman Burgher in 1978 and Raymond Lloyd Carpenter on April 9, 1996; 2 step-sons, Toby Dellinger and Tom Carpenter; 2 brothers, Merlin and Richard Shively and 2 sisters, Mary Jackson and Neva Sommerville.
Deloris was a member of the Friendship Community Baptist Church of Lancaster, Missouri. She retired from the Schuyler County ASCS office in Lancaster, Missouri where she completed over 35 years of service.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, who loved spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with John Mark Trammel officiating. Music will be a CD selection of "In The Garden". Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
