Selena Ruth (Elschlager) Beeler
April 20, 1922 – April 22, 2016

Selena Ruth (Elschlager) Beeler, 94 of Queen City, Missouri, formerly of the Downing and Lancaster, Missouri area, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The daughter of Raymond John and Fayrol (Kight) Elschlager, she was born on April 20, 1922 in Downing, Missouri. On March 1, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Estelle Leon Beeler.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Scurlock and husband, Jerry of Downing, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Hale and husband, Scott of Memphis, Missouri and John Edward Scurlock and wife, Sara of Bloomfield, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Clinton Edward Hale, Leeanna Marie Hale, Olivia Ann Hale, Rachel Lynn Scurlock and Donald Taylor Scurlock; two nieces, Nora Lou Toney of Glenwood, Missouri and Hilma Miller of Macon, Missouri; one nephew, Leon Gillispie of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; great nieces and nephews; several cousins; other family members and many good friends including a special friend, Marjorie Morgan of Queen City, Missouri.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Estelle September 30, 2003 and one brother, Richard Elschlager.

Ruth was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri and was later a member of the Friendship Community Church in Lancaster, Missouri.

Following their marriage, Estelle and Ruth own and operated a dairy farm for several years in rural Downing, Missouri. After they retired from the farm, they moved to Lancaster, Missouri. Ruth loved to work on quilts and doll clothes but especially loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Music will be provided by Betty Anderson, organist. A special CD selection of "I Know A Man Who Can and More" will also be performed. Pallbearers will be Eddie Gillispie, Scott Hale, Dennis Blaine, John Scurlock, Jamie Jackson and Jessie Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Comstock, Junior Blessing and Gary Gillispie. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Downing Cemetery or to the Schuyler County Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery.
