Russell Lee Lasley
March 7, 1951 – January 12, 2012
Russell "Russ" Lee Lasley, 60 of rural Glenwood, Missouri passed away as the result of a car accident in Davis County, Iowa on Thursday, January 12, 2012.
The son of Robert Franklin and Lila Pauline (Akey) Lasley, he was born on March 7, 1951 at the Grim Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri. Following his graduation from the Queen City High School in Queen City, Missouri with the class of 1969. He enlisted with the United States Air Force and retired as Master Sergeant after serving 23 years with an honorable discharge.
He was united in marriage to Deborah Ann McMahon on March 7, 1972 at the Baptist Church in Worthington, Missouri and to this union, three children were born, Jason, Angela and Renee.
Russ is survived by his wife, Debbie of rural Glenwood, Missouri; 2 daughters, Angela Dyer of Kirksville, Missouri and Renee Novinger and special friend, Charles Wolken of Glenwood, Missouri; a special close friend of the family, Jammie Tipton of Kirksville, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Pruitt, Russell Wayne Lasley and wife, Taylor, Alex Eddlemon, Ashley Novinger, Heather Novinger, Randy Tippett and Chad Tippett; 2 great grandchildren, Marley Pruitt and Madelyn Sapp; his parents, Robert and Pauline Lasley of Columbia, Missouri; 1 sister, Debbie Taylor and husband, J. T. of Columbia, Missouri; 4 brothers, Paul Lasley and wife, Pauletti of Ames, Iowa, Raymond Lasley and wife, Susan of Columbia, Missouri, Sam Lasley and wife, Denise of Columbia, Missouri and Tom Lasley of Columbia, Missouri; a special cousin, Sheri Steen of Lancaster, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles and other family members.
Russ was preceded in death by one son, Jason Lee Lasley; his father-in-law, Wayne Lyberger; and grandparents, Orville and Sadie Lasley, Irene and Louie Bentley and D. H. Akey.
Russ was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed deeply by his family. Russ loved the Lord and was active in the ministry for many years. He pastored several churches in the area with the last being Elmer Baptist Church. He had a knack of always seeing the best in people and situations; never meeting a stranger. His favorite past time was going to church, hunting, fishing and cutting wood with his chainsaw and special dog named "Lady".

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with George Bradburn, pastor of the Queen City Christian Church officiating. Organist, Margie Tippett and soloist, Cole Tippett, will provide music. Special selections will be "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and "The Family Bible". Pallbearers will be Logan Lasley, Adam Lasley, Tyler Lasley, Charles "Fish Bait" Wolken, Mark Jones and Bill Camden. Honorary pallbearers will be David Camden, John Moore, and Rick Lamcial. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the family. Burial will be in the Jimtown Cemetery, southwest of Glenwood, Missouri with military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
