Rozel "Joe" Piatt
June 26, 1940 – January 2, 2014
Rozel "Joe" Piatt, 73 of Glenwood, Missouri passed away at his home on Thursday, January 2, 2014.
The son of Elmer John and Faye Sylvia (Watkins) Piatt, he was born on June 26, 1940 in Glenwood, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Wilcox and to this union three children were born, Debbie, Tammy and Joe Jr. (Sonny). He was married to Betty Harbour and to this union a son, Jim was adopted. Joe later was united in marriage to Josette Renee Emile.
Joe is survived by his children, Debbie Small of Downing, Missouri, Tammy Piatt of Glenwood, Missouri and Jim Piatt of Ottumwa, Iowa; two step sons, Terry Deeter of Coon Rapids, Iowa and John Deeter of Bloomfield, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Vern Yenger and Christopher Yenger of Ottumwa, Iowa, Susie and Bobby Small of Downing, Missouri and Amanda Hulen and husband, Adam of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 4 great grandchildren, Harley and Huck Small of Downing, Missouri, Ryelan Yenger of Ottumwa, Iowa and Will Steen of Oskaloosa, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Mike Willier of Ottumwa, Iowa who was raised like a brother to Joe and other family members.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josette Renee Emile on April 27, 2012; one son, Rozel Joe Piatt, Jr. (Sonny) on May 16, 2008; 2 sisters, Romona Gravett and Virginia Langdon and 2 brothers, Roland Martin Piatt who died at birth and was a twin to Romona and Charles Nathan Piatt.
Following his attendance in the Glenwood High School, Joe served his country in the United States Army for four years and after being honorably discharged, he was employed for 30 years with John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa, Iowa. Following his retirement from John Deere Ottumwa Works, Joe was able to enjoy his hobbies, which included woodworking, fishing and playing the guitar.

Memorial services will be held at a later date as the body has been cremated. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, Missouri.
