Ronald Richard Whitacre, 69 of Glenwood, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home in Glenwood, Missouri.
The son of Charles Richard and Esther Eileen (Clinkenbeard) Whitacre, he was born May 27, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa. Ron was first married to Connie Brunk and to this union Michael was born. Ron's second marriage was to Melody Buckallew and to this union two daughters, Lydia and Laura and a son, Andrew were born.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Whitacre and wife, Mandy of St. Peters, Missouri and Andrew Whitacre of Glenwood, Missouri; two daughters, Lydia Whitacre and Laura Whitacre both of Glenwood, Missouri; two grandchildren, Maxwell and Evie Whitacre both of St. Peters, Missouri; one sister, Karen Watkins and her husband, David of Midland, Texas; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gary Whitacre; one sister, Dixie Jo Whitacre and one brother who died in infancy.

Ron loved his music and was always in there with the best of them singing and playing his guitar.
Ron was a member of the Coatsville Baptist Church in Coatsville, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Reverend Terry Hunsaker, former pastor of the Coatsville Baptist Church officiating. Special musical selections will be "Will There Be Any Stars In My Crown" by Jack Yardley Sr. and Jack Yardley II; "Beulah Land" by Terry Hunsaker and "Angel Band" by Laura Whitacre. Pallbearers will be Michael Whitacre, Andrew Whitacre, Rick Baughman, Chris Baughman, David Mullins and David Watkins. Honorary pallbearer will be Luke Watkins. Visitation will be Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Coatsville Baptist Church in Coatsville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
