June 2, 1949 – November 1, 2014

Patsy Lea (Ferdig) Evans, 65 of Anamosa, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 after a three-year struggle against breast cancer. Patsy died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by people she loved.

Patsy, one of 14 children, was born on June 2, 1949 to Melvin Eugene and Merna S. (Smith) Ferdig in rural Lancaster, Missouri. She was a graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. In 1967, Patsy was united in marriage to K. Michael Evans and to this union 2 daughters were born, Tonya Evans and Tracey Evans.

Survivors include her husband, K. Michael Evans of Anamosa, Iowa; two daughters, Tonya Evans and Tracey Evans Davidson both of Anamosa, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Coty Lukemyres, Kaurie and Mark Davidson; 10 brothers and sisters and spouses; 1 sister-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law.

After moving to Anamosa, Iowa in 1976, Patsy participated in Camp Fire with her daughters and many other activities. She retired from Polo Plastics in Monticello, Iowa and then spent time on her favorite things.

She loved to be outside digging in the dirt. She had a green thumb, spending hours on her beloved flowers and working in her yard. She loved to sew and make beautiful things for her family and friends.

Most important to Patsy was family. She was an amazing wife, mom, sister and aunt. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family. She was loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Jeremy Ferdig of Glenwood, Missouri officiating. Music will be provided by Robin McCullar, pianist and Jenny Ferdig, soloist. Special selections will be "Amazing Grace" and "What A Day That Will Be". Pallbearers will be Dana Robinson, David McCallum, Marty Ferdig, Jim Siver, Dexter Ferdig and Mark Davidson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center of Iowa "Spirit Fund". Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
