Nellie Imogene Newman
February 16, 1922 – May 2, 2014

Nellie Imogene Newman, 92 of Livonia, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on May 2, 2014.

The daughter of Henry and Jennie Violet (Haines) Ruggles, Nellie was born on February 16, 1922 in rural Putnam County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to George Milton Newman on December 24, 1938 in Livonia, Missouri and to this union five children were born.

Nellie is survived by two sons, Roger Newman and wife, Brenda of Colona, Illinois and Neal Newman and wife, Ann of Green City, Missouri; one daughter, Connie Thomas and husband, Buddy of Unionville, Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Gwynn Newman of Wentzville, Missouri and Melba Adkins of Lake of Ozarks, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Milton Newman who passed away in October 1988; two sons, Garrett Newman and Ronnie Newman; one brother, Luther W. Ruggles and one sister, Genevieve Shubert.

Nellie was a member of the Hartford Baptist Church in Hartford, Missouri. Nellie enjoyed the fellowship and the many meals and bingo games at the Schuyler County Nutrition Site in Lancaster, Missouri. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends both in Putnam and Schuyler County.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Reverend Ronnie Olson of Livonia, Missouri officiating. Music will be special CD selections of "In The Garden" and "When We All Get To Heaven". Pallbearers will be Brad Thomas, Bryan Newman, Roger Dean Newman, Donnell Moore, Adam Newman and Ryan Newman. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Newman, Matthew Newman, Brett Thomas, Brian Weaver and Brandon Thomas. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site in Lancaster, Missouri.
