Nan Juanita (Allen) Smyser

Nan Juanita (Allen) Smyser, 89 of Glenwood, Missouri passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri where she had been a resident since August 2009.

The daughter of Charles Carlton and Mary Bernice (Newman) Allen, Nan Juanita was born on May 5, 1924 in Kirksville, Missouri. On February 23, 1942 at the Christian Church parsonage in Lancaster, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Payton Duboise Smyser and to this union three children were born, Bernice, Payton Murl (Sonny) and Phillip.

Survivors include her children, Bernice Kenney & husband, Larry of Glenwood, Missouri, Payton Murl "Sonny" Smyser & wife, Beverly of Lancaster, Missouri and Phillip Smyser and wife, Sandi of Moberly, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Julie (Kenney) Johnson of Moberly, Missouri, Guy Kenney of Salisbury, Missouri, Chris Smyser of Lancaster, Missouri, Amy (Smyser) Matkovich of Plano, Iowa, Shelly (Smyser) Easton of Moberly, Missouri, Lori Smyser of Moberly, Missouri, Phillip Smyser II of Moberly, Missouri and Katie (Smyser) Hinkle of Salisbury, Missouri; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ralph Allen and wife, Donna of San Diego, California; nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Her parents; her husband, Payton Duboise Smyser on August 14, 2008; 3 brothers, Murl (Whitey) Allen, Charles Ray Allen and Perley Newman Allen and 1 sister, Lorena Wilson preceded Juanita in death.

Juanita was a member of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri as long as her health permitted. She was employed at Hollisters in Kirksville, Missouri from which she retired after 13 years of service. Juanita was a member of the Victory Club, Rebekah's, CWS and the Ladies of Faith Secretary. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Music will be provided by Maureen Watkins, organist, Cole Tippett, soloist and Phillip Smyser II, accompanist. Special selections will be "The King Is Coming" and "Room At The Cross". Pallbearers will be Chris Smyser, Guy Kenney, Phillip Smyser II, Trevor Kenney, Robbie Dutton III, Cory Hinkle and Cody Johnson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. Memorials have been established for Schuyler County Church of Faith or Schuyler County Health Department.
