Max C. Snowbarger, 79 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

The son of Junior E. and Ruth (Bergman) Snowbarger, he was born on January 5, 1935 in rural Queen City, Missouri. He was a graduate of the Queen City High School in Queen City, Missouri. On April 24, 1954 at the Darby Church, northeast of Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Darby and to this union three children were born, Patricia Lynn, Ricky and Philip.

Max is survived by his wife, Betty Jean of Lancaster, Missouri and who just celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary on April 24, 2014; 2 sons, Ricky Snowbarger and wife, Michelle of Adair, Oklahoma and Philip Snowbarger and significant other, Lori Johnson of Lancaster, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Trent Snowbarger and wife, Heidi of Lancaster, Missouri, Sara Snowbarger of Adair, Oklahoma, Cody Snowbarger and wife, Jessica of Germany and Jesse Snowbarger of Adair, Oklahoma; 7 great grandchildren, Kaden and Jalee Snowbarger of Lancaster, Missouri, Brendan Kiser of Adair, Oklahoma, Xavier Snowbarger of Adair, Oklahoma, Layne Snowbarger of Claremore, Oklahoma, Ethan Snowbarger of Germany and Lukas Snowbarger of Germany; 1 sister, Anna Lou Wheeler and husband, Don of Queen City, Missouri; 1 sister-in-law, Martha Hubbartt and husband, Ronnie of Lancaster, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and many good neighbors and friends.

Max is preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Patricia Lynn Snowbarger on November 12, 1962 and 2 brothers, Warren O. Snowbarger on April 5, 2009 and one brother, Kenneth in infancy.

Max and Betty have farmed their entire married life on the same farm north of Lancaster, Missouri. Max was a member of the Darby Christian Church and a delegate for the MFA for numerous years.

Max was known as a very kind, caring and thoughtful person and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Travis Harris, Elder of the Lancaster Christian Church officiating. Music will be provided by Maureen Watkins, organist providing special musical selections of "Amazing Grace" and "Farther Along". Pallbearers will be Larry Aeschliman, Quinten Smyser, Steve Holper, Curtis Tallman, Randy Whitlow and Jimmy Groseclose. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Darby Cemetery or the Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Burial will be in the Darby Cemetery northeast of Lancaster, Missouri.
