Mary Isabelle Thompson went to occupy a new home that was reserved for her by Jesus her Savior, some 32 years ago, her place in the presence of God—the greatest gift that can be given and received! She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri on Saturday, May 19, 2018
The daughter of Andrew Jackson and Christina T. (Zaerr) Smallwood, she was born on July 3, 1920 in Savannah, Iowa. On October 26, 1940 in Greentop, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Herbert Lyle Thompson and to this union two children were born, Jackie Lyle and Marilyn Christine.
Mary is survived by her two children, Jack Thompson and wife, Jane of Greentop, Missouri and Marilyn Christine Miller and husband, Wally of Rock Falls, Illinois; four grandchildren, Christie Lenox and husband, Ted of Sterling, Illinois, Jamie Miller and wife, Carrie of Illinois, Rachel Kors and husband, Jason of Oregon, Illinois and Jack L. Thompson, Jr. and wife, Junia of Greentop, Missouri; 13 great grandchildren, Katelyn, Jessica and T. C. Lenox, Paul, Stephen, Brandon, Kyrsten and Rebecca Muhleback, Jay Kors, Amber and Madison Miller, Ryan Jackson and Isabelle Thompson; eight great great grandchildren, John Lenox, Austin Delancy, Ventura Valdez, Journeigh, Zander and Ariyah Muhleback, Brandon and Moriah Delancey; other family members and many good friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one great great granddaughter. In addition, brothers, Everette Hezzie and Robert Lee; sisters, Maudie Alice Thompson, Ada Katherine Ream, Ruth Inez Bradley, Ida Jeanetta Jacobs and Nancy Evaline Smallwood; half-brothers, Chester, Ples. Lennie and Jennings; half-sisters, Elma Carrie and Lola Larue.
Mary was a charter member of the Greentop Baptist Church in Greentop, Missouri and attended as long as her health permitted. She had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that she loved to share and a gift of hospitality. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greentop Baptist Church in Greentop, Missouri with Jack Thompson officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Beverly Huskisson and guitarists, Jack Thompson and Jack Thompson, Jr. Special selections will be "I Can Only Imagine", "Sweet Hour Of Prayer" and "Home". Pallbearers will be Paul Muhleback, Ted Lenox, Jack L. Thompson, Jr., T. C. Lenox, Brandon Muhleback and Stephen Muhleback. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Greentop Baptist Church in Greentop, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Yeshua's Grace Ministries of Sterling, Illinois, a ministry for women in crisis. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri.
