Mary Maxine (Shipley) Buckallew
April 29, 1930 – May 5, 2014

Mary Maxine (Shipley) Buckallew, 84, formerly of Lancaster, Missouri, died on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Scotland County Care Center of Memphis, Missouri where she had been a resident for two years.

Mary was born on April 29, 1930 in Graysville, Missouri to Charles (Charlie) William and Martha Sarah (Johnson) Shipley. In June 4, 1948 in Lancaster, Missouri she married Eddie Buckallew. He preceded her in death in July 2013. To this union 7 children were born, David, Deborah, Dannie, Melody, Johnnie, Tim and Denny.

Mary is survived by her children, Deborah Bock and husband, Michal of Palmyra, Missouri, Dannie Buckallew and wife, Tammy of Lancaster, Missouri, Melody Whitacre of Lancaster, Missouri, Johnnie Buckallew and wife, Becky of Lancaster, Missouri and Tim Buckallew of Greentop, Missouri; 29 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Shipley, Edith Shipley and Marilyn Shipley all of Ottumwa, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie; 2 sons, David and Denny Buckallew; 1 sister, Deloris Lightfoot; 6 brothers, Wilbur, Ed, Paul, Chuck (Loren), Buck (Lee) and Joe Shipley.

Mary worked part time several years ago at the NEMO Community Action Agency, the United Methodist Church and baby-sat in her home. Her joy was her home, family, flowers and garden. Her love and faith in Jesus Christ kept her going through life's tribulations of late, finally allowing her to join her husband and loved ones in heaven.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Reverend Daniel Bock, Dr. Nate Bock and Pastor Thomas Shipley officiating. Guitarist, Dr. Nate Bock and vocalists, Daniel and Eliza Bock will give a musical hymn medley. Laura Whitacre will sing "Angel Band" also. Pallbearers will be Dannie Buckallew, Tim Buckallew, Johnnie Buckallew, Andrew Whitacre, Michal Bock, Trent Snowbarger, Jeremy Buckallew and Scott Buckallew. Honorary pallbearers will be Thad Kirby, Gregory Buckallew, Matthew Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson, Justin Buckallew, Kyle Buckallew and Michael Whitacre. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Rose Cemetery or Lancaster United Methodist Women. Burial will be in the Rose Cemetery in Graysville, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normafh.com.
