Martha Viola (Hurley) Current

January 25, 1935 – December 21, 2019

Martha Viola (Hurley) Current, 84 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The daughter of Clyde Marion and Lettie (Baugh) Hurley, she was born on January 25, 1935 in Livonia, Missouri.  She was a graduate of the Livonia High School in Livonia, Missouri.  On October 15, 1953 in Lancaster, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Raymond Junior (Jim) Current and to this marriage three children were born, Brenda, Tim and Ron.

Martha is survived by her children, Brenda Drobny of Kirksville, Missouri, Tim Current and special friend, Connie Goodwin of Memphis, Missouri and Ron Current and special friend, Karla Walker of Kirksville, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Kandi Peavler of Kirksville, Missouri, Damon and Shawna Current both of Iowa; 6 great grandchildren including Dakota and ShyAnn Peavler both of Kirksville, Missouri;  nieces and nephews and other family members.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim on August 23, 1997; 3 brothers, Don Douglas Hurley, Warren Hurley and Howard Hurley and one son-in-law, Stephen Drobny.

Martha was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri, a member of the American Legion in Livonia, Missouri and a board member to the Jimtown Cemetery.

Martha was known for her fabulous pies she made while working at Mom's Café and the Missourian Café in Memphis, Missouri for several years but, her greatest joys were her children and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating.  Music will be special CD selections of "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "The Old Rugged Cross".  Pallbearers will be Kandi Peavler, Tim Current, Ron Current, Dakota Peavler, Jamie Jackson and Don Hurley.  Honorary pallbearer will be Norman Minor.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 1:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.  Memorials have been established for Jimtown Cemetery.  Burial will also be in the Jimtown Cemetery, southwest of Glenwood, Missouri.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
