Marlene May (Ertel) Mullins

Marlene May (Ertel) Mullins, 87 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The daughter of William McCuskey and Elvena (Gaetz) Ertel, she was born on May 17, 1939 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. Marlene graduated from Greentop High School in Greentop, Missouri in 1957. On May 25, 1958 at the Queen City Christian Church in Queen City, Missouri with Reverend Hollis Bowen officiating, she was united in marriage to Glen Melvin Mullins and to this union three sons were born, Patrick Wayne, Michael Shane and Shawn Melvin.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Glen Mullins of rural Lancaster, Missouri; three sons, Patrick Mullins and wife, Annette of Maryville, Missouri, Michael Mullins and wife, Kathy of Mahomet, Illinois and Shawn Mullins and wife, Mildred of Laddonia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Erin Mullins of Maryville, Missouri, Rachel Mullins of Phoenix, Arizona, Phillip Mullins of Indianapolis, Indiana and Katherine Wendte and husband, Byron of Mahomet, Illinois; four great grandchildren, which includes a set of twins; two sisters, Jane Story of Brashear, Missouri and Shirley LaCore of Hollister, Missouri; two brothers, William Ertel of Greentop, Missouri and Dale Ertel of Arkansas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat Mead of Milo, Iowa, Thelma Mullins of Novinger, Missouri and Mary Clark and husband, Robert of Tacoma, Washington; several nieces and nephews and other family members.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nancy Meade and brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Story, Gilbert Mullins and wife, Rose, Mac Mullins, and John Eason and wife, Lois.

Marlene worked on the farm milking cows for 22 years before selling the cows and going to work at BP in Lancaster, Missouri for 20 years from which she retired. Marlene enjoyed traveling with Glen, her cats and dogs and being on the farm. Her dogs were her constant companions, faithfully by her side as they helped her with the daily work on the farm. She also had a special fondness for her cats, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout the years. She enjoyed spending her time with her kids and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Erin Mullins of Maryville, Missouri officiating and being assisted by Beverly Smyser of Lancaster, Missouri. Special selections of “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross” will be performed by soloist, Cole Tippett. Pallbearers will be Eric Grgurich, Cade Mullins, Rhett Mullins, Charlie Lay, Stanley Martin and Junior Buckallew. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
