Lyle Blaine Lamb
October 31, 1936 - October 6, 2013

Lyle Blaine Lamb, 76 of Glenwood, Missouri passed away at his home in Glenwood, Missouri on Sunday, October 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer for 9 years.

The son of Luther Russell and Una (Beaver) Lamb, Lyle was born on October 31, 1936 in Golden City, Missouri. On May 20, 1961 in Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Patricia Whitlow and to this union three children were born, Richard, John and Brenda.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lamb of Glenwood, Missouri; his children, Richard (Rick) Lamb and wife, Marilyn of Queen City, Missouri, John Lamb and wife, Shelly of Port Bryan, Illinois and Brenda Mumma of Port Bryan, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Lamb, Breanah, Cody and Dillon Lamb and Jeffrey and Justin Cortez and Jessica Carter; 2 great grandchildren, Gabriel and Faith Carter; brothers and sisters, Luther Lamb and wife, Shirley of Lamar, Missouri, Sharon Cartwright of Boone, Missouri, Daryl Lamb and wife, Carolyn of Nevada, Missouri, Beverly Smith and husband, Vern of Van Buren, Arkansas and Janelle McKinely and husband, Larry of Rich Hill, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, John Dennis and Evah Whitlow; and one brother-in-law, Larry Whitlow.

At the age of 17, Lyle enlisted in the United States Air Force from which he received an honorable discharge after serving his country for eight years. Following his discharge from the Air Force, he began his career with Case International Harvester and retired after being employed with this company for 30 years. After his retirement from Case IH, he was employed as a grounds keeper for Old Orchard in Silvis, Illinois for eight years. In 2009, Lyle and Pat moved from Illinois to Pat's farmstead.

He was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Lonnie Johnson, pastor of the Lancaster Baptist church officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Maureen Watkins and soloist, Cole Tippett. Special musical selections will be "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers will be John Lamb, Rick Lamb, Leon Lamb, Jeffrey Cortez, Justin Cortez and Mike Whitlow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Glenwood Cemetery.
