Wanda Louise (Johnson) Gordy
September 27, 1934 – July 31, 2016

Wanda Louise (Johnson) Gordy, 81 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The daughter of Carl Veldon and Ethel ArRetta (Kinsler) Johnson, she was born on September 27, 1934 in rural Bloomfield, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Bloomfield High School. On October 22, 1953 in Lancaster, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Donald Vance (Zeek) Gordy and to this union 6 children were born, Volney, Vallerie, Veldon, Vickie, Vernon and Verl.

Survivors include her children, Volney Gordy of Lancaster, Missouri, Vallerie Hudson and husband, Jeff of Lockridge, Iowa, Veldon Gordy and wife, Debbie of Kirksville, Missouri, Vickie Rogers and husband, Jim of Kirksville, Missouri, Vernon Gordy and wife, Dana of Kirksville, Missouri and Verl Gordy and wife, Paula of Lancaster, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Wendell Johnson and wife, Donna of Springfield, Missouri, Tick Johnson and wife, Joy of rural Bloomfield, Iowa, Sonya Swift of Des Moines, Iowa, George Johnson and wife, Deloris of Texas, Dan Johnson and wife, Linda of Bloomfield, Iowa and Linda Hoepner and husband, Jim of Bettendorf, Iowa;1 sister-in-law, Mary Joyce Shively of Kirksville, Missouri; other family members and many good friends including Willie and Norma Lee Beeler of Lancaster, Missouri, Ivan and Frances Staley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Doris and Jerry Casteel of St. Louis, Missouri.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don on April 13, 2010; one granddaughter, Tiffany Rogers; one brother, Larry Gene Johnson; one sister-in-law, Shirley Small and one brother-in -law, Fred Gordy.

Louise was a member of the Monterey Baptist Church in Monterey, Iowa. She was also a member of the Melvin Extension Club and was a 4-H Leader.

Louise treasured the time she was able to spend with her friends and especially with her family. She will be missed by her family and good friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. A eulogy will be given by Becky Hanaway. Special CD musical selections will be "Going Home" and "Look For Me At Jesus' Feet". Pallbearers will be Jimmy Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Jesse Hudson, Galen Hudson, Billy Don Gordy, Nicholas Rogers, Taylor Hudson, Hayden Ray Gordy, Angela Marie Clark and Michael Gordy. Honorary pallbearer will be Fritz Gerdman. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 between the hours of 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Johnson Cemetery and Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Burial will be in the Johnson Cemetery, south of Monterey, Iowa.
