Darren Leon Garrison
February 19, 1948 – April 18, 2016

Darren Leon Garrison, 68 of rural Queen City, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 in Queen City, Missouri due to a motorcycle accident.

The son of Alva and Hazel (Taylor) Garrison, Leon was born on February 19, 1948 in Buffalo, Missouri. Following his graduation from Windyville High School in Windyville, Missouri, he served his country in the United States Navy as a Cook during Vietnam from which he was honorably discharged.

On September 3, 1976 at the Christian Church in Queen City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sharon L. Pickens and to this union one son was born.

Leon is survived by his wife, Sharon of Queen City, Missouri; his son, Ryan Garrison and wife, Tara of Greentop, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Logan Garrison of Queen City, Missouri, who was raised by Leon and Sharon and Tristan Garrison of Greentop, Missouri; 1 brother, Tony Garrison and wife, Robin of Wellington, Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley Pickens and wife, Diana of Kirksville, Missouri, Fred Pickens of Warrenton, Missouri, Roberta Myer and husband, Greg of Ottumwa, Iowa, Doris Randolph and husband, Dale of Corydon, Iowa and Stephen Pickens and wife, Janet of Branson, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

His parents and his father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Mary Pickens, precede Leon in death.

Leon was a faithful member of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. He was a member of the Schuyler County American Legion Post 0784 and was also a member of the Masons.

Leon retired from Hollister, Inc. in Kirksville, Missouri where he had worked for approximately thirty years as a Machine Maintenance worker. Following his retirement, Leon worked on the Schuyler County Ambulance District as an EMT for thirteen years.

Leon enjoyed hunting, working on guns and knives, reloading shells, motorcycles and working at Sally Mountain during their bluegrass festivals. He also loved to cook and barbeque as long as Sharon would do the dishes!

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri officiating. Music will be a CD special selection of "Amazing Grace". Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri at a later date as the body has been cremated. The Schuyler County American Legion Post 0784 will conduct military rites at the conclusion of the memorial services. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
