Leo Gene Garrett, 83 of Downing, Missouri passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The son of Leo Gordon and Lillian Marie (Long) Garrett, he was born on February 8, 1943 in Kirksville, Missouri. On November 10, 2012 in Lancaster, Missouri he was united in marriage to Bertha Mae Belknap.

Leo is survived by his wife, Bertha Garrett of Downing, Missouri; children, Alan Garrett and wife, Kristina of Downing, Missouri, Bobby Garrett and wife, Joy of Downing, Missouri, Pat Garrett and Stephanie Garrett; stepchildren, Arthur Watson of Indiana, Mike Phillips and wife, Teri of Cameron, Missouri, Tammy Garmoe and husband, Phil of Willmathsville, Missouri, Rose Bryant of Connecticut and Kathy Arnold of southern Missouri; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Leo is preceded by his parents; one son, Eugene Wayne Garrett and two brothers, Jerry Dee Garrett and Arlie Dwayne Garrett.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date as the body has been cremated per Leo’s wishes. Memorials have been established for the family.
