Kenneth Lee Saner October 15, 1931 – February 28, 2014 Kenneth Lee Saner, 82 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri. The son of Lowell Fredrick and Josie Olive (Slater) Saner, he was born on October 15, 1931 in rural Schuyler County, Missouri. On November 19, 1960 at the Glenwood Christian Church in Glenwood, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Lucas and to this union three children were born, Scott, Stanley and Joanna. Survivors include his children, Scott Allen Saner and wife Tina of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Stanley Lowell Saner and wife, Shellie of Kenai, Alaska and Joanna Vanlandingham and husband, Brad of Lancaster, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, Colin Saner, Timothy Saner, Trenton Saner, Alexandra Shire, Cassandra Shire, Annakje, Ariel, Jasper and Amber Vanlandingham; 2 great grandchildren, Destiny Tierren and Jakob West; 1 aunt, Marjorie West of Lancaster, Missouri and 1 uncle, Charles Gossman and wife, Joann of Edina, Missouri whom he considered as a sister and brother since they were raised together by Kenneth's parents; other family members and many good friends. His parents and his wife, Mary on March 26, 2009, precede Kenneth in death. Kenneth served his country in the United States Navy and after being honorably discharged, he was employed with Tesoro Petroleum as a Civil Engineer in Alaska from which he retired. He was an avid pilot and Chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol for most of his adult life. He also flew in and out of the bush in Alaska helping aid in many search and rescue missions. He was also a dedicated softball "grandpa"! Kenneth was a very active member and elder of the Church of Christ in Kirksville, Missouri as long as his health permitted. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Dr. Barry Poyner of Kirksville, Missouri officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Memorial services from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site, Schuyler R-I Softball program or the Church of Christ in Kirksville, Missouri. As per Kenneth's wishes, his body has been cremated. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
