Joseph Leon Welsh

Joseph Leon Welsh, 73 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at his home in Lancaster, Missouri.
The son of Wallace Leon and Helen Louise (Followwill) Welsh, he was born on April 8, 1944 in rural Queen City, Missouri. Joe was a graduate of the Lancaster High School with the graduating class of 1962. He then graduated from University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri in 1969. On July 24, 1965 in Oaklandon, Indiana, he was united in marriage to Susan DeAnn Dugan and to this union three children were born, Melissa, Kelley and Joseph, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Welsh of Lancaster, Missouri; three children, Melissa King and husband, William of Cottontown, Tennessee, Kelley Wierzbicki and husband, Dennis of Allendale, New Jersey and Joseph Welsh, Jr. of Nokesville, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Susan Brooke Horton of Gallatin, Tennessee, Jamie Lee Winters and husband, Blake of Indianapolis, Indiana, Andrew Thomas Henton of Gallatin, Tennessee, Lydia Grace King of Cookeville, Tennessee, Elijah Mark Woody of Cottontown, Tennessee, Kathryn Nicole Bell and husband, David of Garner, North Carolina, Daniel Foley Rehain of Allendale, New Jersey, Patrick Jeffrey Rehain of Allendale, New Jersey, Caelainn Bryn Welsh of Nokesville, Virginia, and Jodie Corrinne Welsh of Nokesville, Virginia; five great grandchildren, Dathen Noah, Carter Lewis and Keegan Riley Horton all of Gallatin, Tennessee, Everett William Winters of Indianapolis, Indiana and Abel Thomas Henton of Cottontown, Tennessee; his mother, Helen Welsh of Lancaster, Missouri; two brothers, Jim Welsh and wife, Nancy of Vero Beach, Florida and Bob Welsh and wife, Chris of Moberly, Missouri; one sister, Cathy Fitzwater and husband, Terry of Clifton Hill, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Rex Dugan and wife, Sharon of The Villages, Florida and Bruce Dugan of Danville, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Cindy Dugan of Indianapolis, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Wallace Welsh on April 19, 1981; his father and mother in law, Earl and Berniece Dugan and one brother-in-law, Donald Dugan.
Joe was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. He was also a member of the Schuyler County Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge #427 of Glenwood, Missouri and the Moila Shrine Club.
During his college years, Joe was employed with KTVO and General Electric. He returned to farming in Schuyler County, Missouri from 1972 until 1981. He worked for the Missouri Department of Agricultural International Department for three years before moving to Virginia where he held multiple positions with several international companies. For the remainder of his business career, he was an International Business Consultant in Indonesia, Ukraine, Croatia, Ethiopia and Liberia. Upon retirement, he returned to Lancaster, Missouri and did it "His Way"!

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Lonnie Johnson, Pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church officiating. Music will be provided by Donna Welte, pianist and Bob Welsh, soloist. Special musical selections will be "It's True" and "Sunshine in My Soul". Pallbearers will be Chris Beeler, Scott Beeler, Rex Dugan, Junior Shotten, John West and Randy Shaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Beeler, Bruce Dugan, Tommy Roberts, Jim Welsh, Gary Kimbrell and Ron Beeler. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund and Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, southwest of Glenwood, Missouri.
