Joseph Ray Chaumont, Jr.
August 20, 1952 – February 2, 2017

Joseph Ray Chaumont, Jr., 64 of Kirksville, Missouri, formerly of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at his home on Thursday, February 2, 2017.

The son of Joseph Ray and Neva Ethel (Barnhart) Chaumont, he was born on August 20, 1952 in Ft. Hood, Texas. He was a 1969 graduate of Savannah High School in Savannah, Illinois. Following graduation and at the age of 17, he enlisted with the United States Army and served his country for 20 years in Ordinance. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Army and was later employed as a Customer Service Representative with Southern Graphics from which he retired.

He was united in marriage to Irene Ann Cerka on January 17, 1976 in Exira, Iowa and to this union three sons were born, Joseph R., Jeremy R. and Justin C.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Chaumont of Kirksville, Missouri; three sons, Joseph R. Chaumont and wife, Kate of Columbia, Missouri, Jeremy R. Chaumont and wife, Kelly of Kirksville, Missouri and Justin C. Chaumont of Kirksville, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Lily and Jason Chaumont of Kirksville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Lynn Anderson of Kirksville, Missouri and Virginia Swolley of Atlantic, Iowa; two aunts, Marilyn Barnhart of Bloomfield, Iowa and Sarah Beeler of Queen City, Missouri and other family members.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ray Chaumont on June 17, 2007; his mother, Neva Ethel (Barnhart) Chaumont on February 14, 1990 and one stepbrother, William C. Barnhart.

Joe loved to hunt, military history and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Lonnie Johnson, Pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church officiating. Music will be a special CD selection of "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers will be Eric Hanson, Michael Peoples, Neil Overstreet, Benjamin Babcock, Jimmy Vrendenburgh and Jason Steel. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri and military rites will be conducted by Ft.
