John Edwin Waide

John Edwin Waide, 92 of Downing, Missouri passed away at his home on Friday, May 3, 2013.
The son of Clarence Edwin and Olive Cora (Cowell) Waide, he was born on June 8, 1920 in rural Downing, Missouri.
John was raised in rural Downing, Missouri where he attended country schools south of Downing and graduated from the Downing High School in Downing, Missouri. In April 1946, he was inducted into the United States Army serving his country during World War II from which he received an honorable discharge. Following his discharge, he returned to Downing, Missouri where he was a livestock farmer for a number of years.
John is survived by cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister and husband, Mary Clyde Stice who passed away on October 7, 1992 and Robert Homer Stice and a nephew in infancy, Bobby Lee Stice.
John was a member of the Coffey Christian Church, later attending the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Music will be recorded selections of "In The Garden" and "Whispering Hope". Pallbearers will be Steve Swindler, Mike Jackson, Barry Cundiff, Tommy Redding, Allen Middleton and Mike Miletich. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Larry Wiggins. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Shiloh Christian Children's Home or Downing Cemetery. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri.
