Jimmie Lee Laughlin

February 1, 1938 – October 7, 2021

Jimmie Lee Laughlin, 83 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away at his home on October 7, 2021.

The son of Archie Leslie and Lou Eva (Leap) Laughlin, he was born on February 1, 1938 in Matthews, Missouri.  He was a graduate of the Eldon High School in Eldon, Missouri.

On July 3, 1956 in Paris, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sharon Sue Abercrombie and to this union two daughters were born, Christine and Connie.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sharon Laughlin of rural Lancaster, Missouri, two daughters, Connie Walsh and husband, Marvin of rural Lancaster, Missouri and Christine Laughlin of rural Lancaster, Missouri; three grandchildren, Heather Hoffmeyer of rural Lancaster, Missouri, Holly Fischer of rural Lancaster, Missouri and children, Haylee Gordon, Peyton Fischer and Easton Fischer and Herschel Hoffmeyer and wife, Stephanie of rural Lancaster, Missouri and children, Carter and Grace Hoffmeyer; one brother, Wayne Laughlin and wife, Chris of Jonesburg, Missouri; one sister, Karen Williams and husband, Roger of Eldon, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Preceding Jimmie in death are his parents; two brothers, Glenn Laughlin and Bill Laughlin and four sisters, Betty Boschert, Bonnie Marriott, Mildred Cain and Lurene Jones.

Jimmie retired from McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) in St. Louis, Missouri.  He worked on the Gemini and Apollo spacecraft as an electrician. He wired the space suit that Neil Armstrong wore when he landed on the moon.

After retirement, he moved to Lancaster, Missouri to live in the country and raise Hereford cattle.  He felt blessed to be surrounded by his family.  He is greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eldon Cemetery in Eldon, Missouri with Glen Yoder, Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka, Missouri officiating   In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka, Missouri.   Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
