Jay Bert Dabney

March 30, 1963 - September 13, 2019

Jay Bert Dabney, 56, a resident of the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The son of Russell Eugene and Helen Lucille (Spurgeon) Dabney, he was born on March 30, 1963 in Bloomfield, Iowa.

Jay is survived by his brothers, Marc Dabney and wife, Reta of Lancaster, Missouri and Chris Dabney and wife, Jan of Lancaster, Missouri; five nieces and nephews, Jenika Johnson and husband, Mark of Columbia, Missouri, Stacey Kaden and husband, Ryan of Kirksville, Missouri, Cody Dabney of Lancaster, Missouri, Eric Dabney and wife, Laura of Lancaster, Missouri and Clinton Dabney and wife, Lindsey of Lancaster, Missouri; 14 great nieces and nephews; two uncles, Hershel Craig of Tucson, Arizona and Jerry McClure of Tucson, Arizona; one aunt, Glenna Dabney of Bloomfield, Iowa; numerous cousins; other family members and special friends, Bruce and Joyce Kosmiski of Kirksville, Missouri.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Eugene Dabney on August 18, 1988 and Helen Lucille Spurgeon on March 26, 2014.

Jay lived in Kirksville, Missouri at the Maple Wood Farms whose caregivers were Bruce and Joyce Kosmiski and lived there for thirty-seven years.  Following Bruce and Joyce's retirement, Jay moved to the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri where he was a resident since June 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating.  Music will be special CD selections of "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art".  Pallbearers will be Mark Johnson, Clinton Dabney, Eric Dabney, Cody Dabney, Ryan Kaden and Cade Johnson.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.  Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
