July 24, 1934 – August 9, 2015

Howard Paul Bowling, 81 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The son of Paul Kenneth and Erma Jewell (Duncan) Bowling, he was born on July 24, 1934 in Glenwood, Missouri. He was a 1951 graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. On October 10, 1952, he was united in marriage to Joyce Dean and to this union 5 children were born, Howard Earl, Paul Douglas, Timothy Dean, Beverly Joyce and Richard Leo. On September 9, 1977 in Albia, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Ramona Rose Wilson.

Howard is survived by his wife, Ramona Bowling of Lancaster, Missouri; his children, Earl Bowling of Centerville, Iowa, Douglas Bowling and wife, Sherry of Lancaster, Missouri, Tim Bowling and wife, Denise of Queen City, Missouri, Beverly Oliver and husband, Ron of Glenwood, Missouri and Richard Bowling and wife, Phylis of Lancaster, Missouri; ten grandchildren; five step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Allen Wilson and wife, Judy of Glenwood, Missouri and Roger Wilson and wife, Betty of Paris, Missouri ; several nieces and nephews and other family members.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Clarence (Jody) Catron; one grandson, Joshua Bowling; one daughter-in law, Lois Bowling and his father and mother-in-law, James and Lorena Wilson.

Howard was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church of Lancaster, Missouri. He was also a member of the Lancaster Jaycees, President of the Racing Fair Board in the 1960's and the Lancaster Lion's Club. Howard was a avid fan of area tractor pulling contests and stock car racing with the Sonny Smyser Racing Team from the 1960's.

Howard was a farmer for a number of years in the Lancaster, Missouri area. He also was employed with Beeler Motor Company in Lancaster, Missouri, Schuyler R-I Schools as a bus driver for the Judd Bus Company, the Allen Pork Farms in Princeton, Illinois and he retired after working for twenty-four years for Wal Mart in Kirksville, Missouri

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Special CD musical selections of "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden" will be performed. Pallbearers will be Justis Bowling, Nicholas Oliver, Matthew Oliver, Christopher Oliver, Kyle Bowling, Brady Bowling, Brian Bowling and Tyler Bowling. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site in Lancaster, Missouri. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
