Harold Duane Middleton
January 25, 1927 – September 8, 2016

Harold Duane Middleton, youngest son of T. A. and Gladys (Drake) Middleton was born in Lancaster, Missouri on January 25, 1927. Harold and his family moved to Downing, Missouri in 1935. "H" graduated from Downing High School in 1944. In 1945 "H" entered into the Air Force and spent 37 months before being honorable discharged.

In July 1945, he married Elaine Schupbach and to this union two sons were born, Donald Duane Middleton and Richard Allen Middleton. Elaine preceded Harold in death on May 9,1985. Later "H" married Helen Applegate who preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Peggy Dufur. Peggy preceded him in death in 2009.

"H" accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and has been a member of the Baptist Church for many years. He was a past District Governor of Rotary and a Charter member of Schuyler County Rotary. He owned an airplane and was a member of the Iowa-MO Flying Farmers. "H" was in the retail lumber business for 65 plus years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, William and Richard and three wives.

He leaves to mourn his passing 2 sons, 14 step children, 34 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Jeanne Middleton of California, a close friend, Marcia York and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Twila Anderson and soloist, Brenda Aeschliman. Special selections will be "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow". A eulogy will be given by Brenda Bruner. Pallbearers will be Andy Middleton, Allen Middleton, Jason Middleton, Nathan Arnold, Austin Middleton and Douglas Middleton. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Pheasant Airplane Association, Schuyler County Rotary Scholarship Fund or donor's choice. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri. Military rites will be conducted by the Wallace W. Gillespie VFW Post #4958.
