Gretchen (Burgher) Adkins

Gretchen (Burgher) Adkins, 96 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at her home on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

The daughter of Leland and Elva (Barr) Burgher, she was born on July 27, 1926 in Coatsville, Missouri.  On April 11, 1943, Gretchen was united in marriage to Walter Cleo Adkins and to this union two children were born, Richard and Steven.

Survivors include her children, Richard Adkins and wife, Cynthia of Greenville, Illinois and Steven Adkins; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces including Nancy Kerby of Lancaster, Missouri and other family members.

Gretchen is preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Walter Cleo Adkins; 5 brothers, Ralph, Bryan, Norman, Grover and John Burgher and 4 sisters, Marjorie Smith, Helen Burgher, Geraldine Burgher and Authrine Beeler.

After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Keokuk, Iowa where Gretchen worked at Sheller-Globe for 39 years.  She later moved back to Lancaster, Missouri.

No services will be held at this time, but a private family memorial will be held at a later date.  Memorials have been established for the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
