Gerald Lee Brunk

August 24, 1938 - September 24, 2024

Gerald Lee Brunk, 86 of Memphis, Missouri passed away on September 24, 2024 at the Clark County Nursing Home. Prior to that, Gerald was in Hospice care at home.

The son of Glen Lee and Fern Oleta (Martin) Brunk, he was born on August 24, 1938 in Savannah, Iowa.  He attended and graduated from Davis County High School in Bloomfield, Iowa.  He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Susan Winona Stoker on January 18, 1959 in Bloomfield, Iowa and to this union four children were born, Rich, Roger, Rhonda and Reed.

Gerald spent many years as a stockman and farmer. He owned and operated a leather repair shop for many years where he made many acquaintances that eventually became good friends! He also enjoyed gardening, target shooting and fishing. Gerald loved talking, telling stories and meeting people.

Gerald was an avid student of God's word. He was also a very devoted member of the Downing Christian Church and served in several of the church's ministries.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Memphis, Missouri; his children, Rich Brunk of St. Charles, Missouri, Roger (Sameta) Brunk of Powell, Wyoming, Rhonda (Kent) Kirchner of Kahoka, Missouri and Reed (Virginia) Brunk of Holden, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Hannah Soukup, Ross Brunk, Alyson Fannon, Alanna Mickelson, Anna Saavedra, Zachary Brunk and Riley Menk; 13 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alberta Harper and husband, Larry; one brother, Ronnie Brunk and wife, Judith and one grandson, Aaron Mathies.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri officiating.  Music will be special selections of "Mansion Over The Hilltop" and "Sounds Like Home To Me".  Donna Byrn will be the pianist. Pallbearers will be Zachary Brunk, Ross Brunk, Kevin Brunk, Zack Fannon, Kyle Mickelson and Marty Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Trump, Mark Myers, Rodney Harper, Greg Brunk, Dustin Menk and Steve Robinson with a special honorary pallbearer, Aaron Mathies.  Visitation will be held between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri.  Memorials have been established for Show Me Christian Youth Home.  Burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery in Savannah, Iowa.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
