Eugene Welsh Forsythe
June 14, 1921 – December 21, 2017

Eugene Welsh Forsythe, 96 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on Thursday, December 21, 2017.
The son of Roy E. and Mabel (Welsh) Forsythe, he was born on June 14, 1921 in rural Glenwood, Missouri. He was a graduate of the Glenwood High School in Glenwood, Missouri. On July 4, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Anna Lea Boggs and to this union two sons, Robert Eugene and Ronald Clark were born. On October 24, 1999, he was united in marriage to Mary (Byrn) Lonis in Glenwood, Missouri.
Survivors included his wife, Mary Forsythe of Lancaster, Missouri; one son, Ronald Forsythe and wife, Gwen (Kitten) of Donahue, Iowa; two step children, Larry Lonis of Marceline, Missouri and Terrie Starbuck and husband, Mark of Queen City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ted Forsythe, Randy Forsythe and Richard Del Forsythe; 2 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Forsythe of Texas; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Anna Forsythe; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debra Lynn Forsythe; one sister, Dorothy Glenn and two brothers, Richard Leroy Forsythe and Herbert Forsythe.
Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge. He then worked for the Rock Island Arsenal from which he retired after completing forty years with this company. After retiring from the Rock Island Arsenal, Eugene moved back to Missouri to enjoy his retirement. Eugene was a member of the VFW, the American Legion Post #0784 and the Lancaster United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with H. R. Rogers, Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Special CD musical selection of "How Great Thou Art" will be played during the services. Pallbearers will be Ted Forsythe, Randy Forsythe, Grant Forsythe, Larry Lonis, Randy Whitlow and Mark Starbuck. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Brunk and Gerald Steen. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Burial will be in the Jimtown Cemetery, southwest of Glenwood, Missouri. Military rites will be conducted by the Schuyler County American Legion Post #0784. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
