DORIS H. ANDERSON
(January 9, 1932 – March 28, 2013)
Doris Hollie (Middleton) Anderson, 81, fourth daughter of Hollie E and Hazel Jane (McCuskey) Middleton, was born January 9, 1932 in rural Downing and passed away on March 28, 2013 in Memphis, MO. She was baptized on June 30, 1963, at the Lancaster Christian Church where she maintained her membership.
Doris Hollie was married to James Leonard Anderson on December 28, 1949 at the Downing Baptist Church by Rev. Luther Schudle. They lived in Livonia, rural Queen City and rural Lancaster.
Doris enjoyed being a "Foster Grandparent" in the Odessa (MO) R-7 Upper Elementary School and a greeter at the Oak Grove, MO Wal-Mart. She also made and gave away many, many plastic mesh "crosses" for friends and family.
She is survived by daughter Gay (Larry) Holman, Austin, TX; three sons: James Hollie (Kathy) Anderson, Lancaster, MO; Cole Anderson, Memphis, MO; and Robert "Bud" (Tawni) Anderson, New Haven, MO; seven grandchildren: Nate Plenge, Springfield. MO; Heather (David) Boas, Bloomfield, IA; Wesley (Jen) Anderson, Ballwin, MO; Kendra (Adam) King, Kansas City, MO; Dillon Anderson, Columbia, MO; Tara Anderson, New Haven, MO; Ashlynn (Andrew) Stillwell, Austin, TX; four great-grandchildren: Hayden Watson, Bloomfield, IA; Hannah Boas, Bloomfield, IA; Alton Stillwell, Austin, TX; Jordan Anderson, Ballwin, MO; brother George David (Barbara) Middleton, Springfield, MO; six sisters: Mary Alice (Paul) Hale, Memphis, MO; Marie Pattison, Springfield, MO; Ellen Rose (Charles) Shepherd, Chicago Heights, IL; Annette Hawkins, Plainfield, IL; and Carol McIntire, Westchester, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband James; daughter and son-in-law Dennis Jaro and Doris Estelle Drane; grandson, Brian Scott Holman; brothers, Robert E Middleton, Jim D Middleton and Joe T Middleton; and sister Margaret Bruner.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Special CD selections of "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" will be performed. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial services at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Odessa Senior Center (P.O. Box 24, Odessa, MO 64076) or the Schuyler County Historical Society (P.O. Box 215, Lancaster, MO 63548).
