Donald Gibson, 86 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The son of Nathan Rosecrantz and Verna Belle (Forsythe) Gibson, Jr., he was born on May 31, 1926 in rural Lancaster, Missouri. On September 25, 1944 in Olathe, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Mildred Gertrude York and to this union two sons were born, Mike and David.

Donald is survived by his son, David Gibson and wife, Alaina of Bloomfield, Iowa; 1 daughter-in-law, Judy Gibson of St. Paul, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Pete Gibson and wife, Kathy of Lancaster, Missouri; 1 sister, Maxine Muehe of Galesburg, Illinois; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, "Gertie" on May 29, 2012; 1 son, Mike Gibson; 1 brother, Ralph Dean Gibson and 1 sister, Ruth Stevens.

Donald was a member of the Orleans Church of Christ of Moulton, Iowa and was a very active member as long as his health permitted.

Donald was a farmer, bulldozer operator and construction worker most of his life. Above all, he was a loving and supportive husband for nearly 68 years as well as a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather as he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Jerry Weller, pastor of the Orleans Church of Christ of Moulton, Iowa officiating. Music will be provided by Becky Dalrymple and Vanessa Weller. Pallbearers will be Nathan Gibson, Joshua Gibson, Marty Gibson, Glen Gibson, Cale Hutchings and Zach Ripka. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for local youth ministry in care of David Gibson. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
