D. D. Dabney, 79 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.

The son of Henry Ivyl and Iowa Jeannetta (Lubean) Dabney, he was born on November 17, 1936 in Peoria, Illinois.

D. D. served in the United States Military as a Military Policeman for the U. S. Army. D. D. served from January 11, 1956 through January 13, 1960 at which time he was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, Texas.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Dabney of Rockwall, Texas and his children, Michael Jr. of North Carolina and Samantha Phillips and husband, Coty and her children, Tatum, Emily and Gracie of Dallas, Texas, Curtis Dabney and wife, Christina and grandson, Joshua of Germany; a long time companion, Wynona Burnett of Lancaster, Missouri; one brother, DeWayne Dabney and wife, Kim of Kaufman, Texas; one sister, Connie Joos and husband, Richard of Independence, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Catherine Dabney of Waterloo, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and cousins; other family members and many good friends.

D. D. is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Archie L. Dabney and John W. Dabney and one sister, Dee A. Garrett.

D. D. was of the Baptist faith.

He worked for Western Union as a lineman from which he retired. Following his retirement from Western Union, he worked for H & K of Dallas, Texas putting in stainless steel kitchens for a number of years.

He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. His main hobbies were fishing, hunting and rebuilding his antique cars and tractors.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Special CD selections will be "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Memorials have been established for the family or to Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri with military rites by the Schuyler County American Legion, Post 0784.
