Charles Franklin Wineinger
October 3, 1923 - October 20, 2015

Charles Franklin Wineinger, 92 of Downing, Missouri passed away at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

The son of Walter Oliver and Lelia (Smith) Wineinger, he was born on October 3, 1923 in Booneville, Missouri. Charles lived with Bob and Emma Morris from the age of 6 until his adulthood. He was united in marriage to Marie Teresa Miano on April 16, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois and to this union five children were born. Following approximately a two-year stay in the Chicago, Illinois area, Charles and Marie moved to Missouri in 1952.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles Franklin Wineinger, Jr. and wife, Brooke of Memphis, Missouri, Shirley Wurtzberger of Kirksville, Missouri and Susan Oliver and her husband, Bert of Lancaster, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Nikki Long and husband, Eric of Memphis, Missouri, Kendi Bradley and husband, Derek of Downing, Missouri, Kalibe Oliver of Lancaster, Missouri and friend Acacia Bulechek, Valeree Oliver and friend, Ken Schmitzer of Lancaster, Missouri, Kim Rumsey of Florida and Bronson Love and wife, Katie of Kirksville, Missouri; 8 great grandchildren, Afton and Addison Spray of Memphis, Missouri, Emit Long of Memphis, Missouri, Carly and Camry Bradley of Downing, Missouri and Cory, Alex and Nina Rumsey of Florida; 1 sister, Ernestine Clines and husband, Herman of Pomona, California; 1 sister-in-law, Edith LaManna and husband, Charley of Chicago, Illinois; other family members and many good friends.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Helen Wineinger on April 20, 1995; his wife, Marie Teresa Wineinger on April 14, 2014; 1 sister, Betty Wineinger who was 2 years old and 1 brother, J. C. Wineinger who was 9 months old.

Charles was a member of the Richland Baptist Church in Scotland County, Missouri. He was also a member of the Downing Lions Club and the Downing Saddle Club.

Following their move from Chicago, Illinois to Downing, Missouri, Charles and Marie moved to a farm east of Downing, Missouri where they lived until 1975 when they moved into Downing, Missouri. Charles sold insurance for a number of years and also sold with Dixon lawnmowers.

Charles and Marie were avid readers, enjoyed playing Bingo at the Schuyler County Nutrition Site, deer hunters and loved to fish for crappie as they both enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. As long as their health permitted, they were able to spend approximately 20 years during the winter months in Titusville, Florida. Charles was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather!

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church of Downing, Missouri officiating. Music will be special CD selections of "In Color", "Grandpa Told Me So" and "On The Wings of a Snow White Dove". Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial services between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri at a later date as the body has been cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
