Charles Herman Kethe

Charles Herman Kethe, 91 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, December 23, 2016.
The son of Henry Charles and Clara Belle (Farris) Kethe, he was born on December 5, 1925 in rural Lancaster, Missouri. He was a high school graduate from the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. On November 7, 1948 at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Lorain Shobe by Reverend Ben Bradbury and to this union five children were born, Henry James, Charles John, Kathy Jo, Teresa Joy and Jeffrey George.
Survivors include his children, John Kethe and wife, Connie of rural Lancaster, Missouri, Kathy Jo (Jodie) Starrett and husband, Dennis of Lancaster, Missouri, Teresa Joy Wheeler and husband, Danny of Lancaster, Missouri and Jeffrey George Kethe of Lancaster, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jamie Kethe, Nicole Parsons and husband, William, Samantha Kethe, Spencer Starrett and wife, Amanda, Abby Oberman and husband, Tony and Jacquelyn Wheeler; six great grandchildren, Tierney Lonberger, Lane Parsons, Trayton Buckallew, Mason Parsons, Casey Starrett and Hayden Williams; one sister, Mary Ikerd of rural Lancaster, Missouri; two nieces, Connie Ikerd and Carol Nastave and husband, Steve; one great niece, Ashley Nastave; a host of friends, neighbors and church family.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Charles and Clara Belle Kethe; his wife, Mary on March 5, 2015; one son, Sergeant Henry James Kethe who died serving his country in Vietnam and one brother-in-law, Floyd Ikerd.
Charles and Mary had been married for 66 years. Charles was an active member in the Lancaster Baptist Church. He was a Christian husband, father and friend, Sunday School Teacher and church leader.
Charles served in the United States Army during World War II from which he was honorably discharged and was a member of the VFW Post 5898.
Charles enjoyed time with family and friends and loved being outdoors working on the farm.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri at 10:30 a.m. with Lonnie Johnson, Pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church officiating. Music will be provided by Donna Welte, pianist and Susan Welsh, soloist performing a special selection of "How Great Thou Art" and a CD selection of "Daddy's Hands". Pallbearers will be Rudy Beeler, George Kethe, David Fugate, Mikel Roberts, Tony Oberman and Stanley Martin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com. Military rites will be conducted by the Scotland County VFW Post 4958. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
