Charles O. Floyd, Jr., 81 of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his home in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Charles O. Floyd, Jr., was born on July 26, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Charles O. Floyd, Sr. and Eleanor Kathryn (Hansen) Floyd, both deceased.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Kay Norman on February 2, 1958 in Lancaster, Missouri. She survives as also their children, Jay Charles Floyd and John Gilbert Floyd and wife, Paulett and their children, Benjamin, Christen and Seth and wife, Juanita; brother-in-law, Eddie Clark Norman, a sister-in-law Becky Faye Weaver, nieces and nephews. His parents, Charles O. Floyd, Sr. and Eleanor Kathryn (Hansen) Floyd and a sister Betty Lou (Floyd) Lange preceded him in death.
Charles was a 1949 graduate of Lancaster High School and attended several college years at Washington University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a 35-year member of the Missouri Highway Patrol (Communications Division), retiring with a captain's rank at GHQ in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Charles was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri growing up and a current member of the First Christian Church in Jefferson City, Missouri where he served as a deacon and usher for many years until illness precluded his assistance. He was a 50-year-plus member of Glenwood Lodge No. 427, and the Grand Lodge AF&AM of Missouri; a 33rd degree member of the Scottish of Free Masonry, Southern Jurisdiction USA, Valley of St. Louis, Orient of Missouri; a member of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission); past member of NLETS (National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System); past member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club; and a former member of organizations too numerous to mention, such as Radio Club of America, American Legion, etc.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri, with Leanna vanZandt pastor of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as desired to a charity of choice. On line condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
