Carolyn Jane (Ridge) Evans
November 16, 1936 – July 25, 2015
Carolyn Jane (Ridge) Evans, 78, of Lancaster, Missouri went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving wife and mother and a devoted sister and friend.
Carolyn was born on November 16, 1936 in Glenwood, Missouri to John Francis and Veda Lucille (McKnight) Ridge. A life long resident of Schuyler County, she graduated from Queen City High School in 1954 where she enjoyed playing basketball. She was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Evans on November 25, 1954 in Queen City, Missouri by the Reverend Hollis Bowen and to this union was born one son, James Richard Evans.
She was Deputy Circuit Clerk and Recorder in Schuyler County from 1960 to 1967. Carolyn enjoyed auctions, antiquing and observing wildlife. She was a devoted follower to her Lord and Savoir and was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church for many years.
Carolyn enjoyed the last 60 years married to her best friend, Dick. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, James Evans and wife, Jill of Keokuk, Iowa; three sisters, Bertha Crump of Kirksville, Missouri, Betty Martin of Kirksville, Missouri and Connie Spurgeon and husband, David of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Charles Ridge of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Larry Ridge and wife, Gail of Long Grove, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Keturah Ridge of Ottumwa, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Cathy Grooms of Kirksville, Missouri.
Preceding Carolyn in death was an infant son; her parents; one brother, Bill Ridge and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Martin and Eugene Crump.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Lonnie Johnson, Pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Donna Welte and soloist, Cathy Grooms. Special musical selections will be "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", "Victory In Jesus" and "Sheltered In The Arms of God". Pallbearers will be Carl Crump, Ronnie McElhinney, Wayne Anderson, David Anderson, John Ridge and Brian Ridge. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Lancaster Baptist Church or Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri.
