Billy Joe Yearns, 47 of Downing, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri after a battle with Esophageal cancer.
The son of Nina (Jackson) and Clifford Yearns, he was born on October 5, 1970 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Billy is survived by his parents, Nina and Clifford Yearns of Downing, Missouri; his significant other, Jenny Stringer of Downing, Missouri; one son, Joey Yearns of the home; three daughters, Sapphire Yearns of the home, Rachel Branson and husband, Chris of Kahoka, Missouri and Charlea West of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandsons; two brothers, Patrick Yearns and Kelly Yearns both of Downing, Missouri; three sisters, Joan Dierling and husband, Kirk of Queen City, Missouri, Kim Hoover and husband, Kevin of Milan, Missouri and Marilyn Berry of Kirksville, Missouri; mother-in-law, Carol Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Samantha Gilbert of Albia, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles and cousins.
Preceding Billy in death are his grandparents, Lester and Ruby Jackson and Harold and Mabel Yearns.
Billy loved driving trucks and semi-trucks, going to Eddyville Night of Fire and the Fuel Altered National in Eddyville, Iowa. He loved and enjoyed making his family laugh and loved teasing and playing with his nieces and nephews. He never met a stranger and was willing to help when it was needed. He loved going to church when he could. He will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the family. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Fabius Cemetery, east of Lancaster, Missouri with Pastor Leon Buford officiating.
