Betty Marquita "Marty" (Phillips) Casselman
August 29, 1945 – January 3, 2017

Betty Marquita "Marty" (Phillips) Casselman, 71 of Glenwood, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.

The daughter of James Crowelley and Betty Lou (Hales) Phillips, she was born on August 29, 1945 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was a 1963 graduate of the Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina and a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas where she was awarded North Carolina Teachers Scholarship in 1963.

On December 24, 1964, she was united in marriage to Alvin Louis Parham in Durham North Carolina and to this union Rodney was born. Alvin Louis Parham passed away and on June 17, 1989, she was united in marriage to Donnie Edward Casselman in Lake City, Florida.

"Marty" was the owner and operator for Phillips Trucking/Parham Trucking in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In 1974 she was awarded the First Female Owner/Operator Trucking Business in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama for State and Federal Highways and Who's Who Among Female Executives in 1990.

"Marty" is survived by her son, Rodney Parham and wife, Tracy of Pikeville, North Carolina; one step-son, Christopher Casselman and wife, Amy of Shallotte, North Carolina; one step-daughter, Teresa Hockett of Shallotte, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, Cody Parham, Sarah Parham, Bryce Parham and Holly Parham all of Pikeville, North Carolina, Hannah Casselman, Josh Casselman and Christopher Casselman and Katie Hockett all of Shallotte, North Carolina; 2 great grandchildren, Ava Grace and Arhya Lynn of Shallotte, North Carolina; other relatives and good friends.

"Marty" is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Buddy Phillips.

"Marty" was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. She was also a member of the Glenwood Garden Club and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with H. R. Rogers, Pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating. Pianist, Joni Newland and soloist, Barbara Berry, will perform special selections of "How Great Thou Art" and "Because He Lives". Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Parham, Bryce Parham, Kyle Buckallew, Justin Buckallew, Johnnie Buckallew and Kendall Gray. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site in Lancaster, Missouri. Burial will be at a later date as the body has been cremated.
