Betty Jean (Wilson) Houston, 87 of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away at the Adams Street Place in Jefferson City, Missouri on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
The daughter of Grover Lee and Ruby Louise (Bailey) Wilson, she was born in Kirksville, Missouri on August 7, 1927. She was a 1945 graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. She was united in marriage to James Douglas Houston in Lancaster, Missouri on February 14, 1947. She and Jim lived in Lancaster, Missouri until 1962 and then moved to Jefferson City where she was employed at the Missouri State Senate from which she retired.
Survivors include one brother-in-law, Richard Houston of Milan, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Velma Wilson of Cave Creek, Arizona, Lucille Witten and husband, Robert of Trenton, Missouri and Mary Lou Hagglund of Ottumwa, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Sam Houston of Gainesville, Texas, Julie Jackson of Sandusky, Ohio, Cynthia Miller of Portland, Oregon, Paula Lauer of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Kristi Hagglund of Ottumwa, Iowa, Bill Witten of Kansas City, Missouri, Sue Witten of Kansas City, Missouri, Marc and Kathy Miller of Jefferson City, Missouri, Matt and Christine Miller of Camdenton, Missouri, Chris Miller of Jefferson City, Missouri and Jackie and George Frantz of Cave Creek, Arizona; other family members and many good friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James on August 26, 2014; 1 brother, Woodrow Jack Wilson and 1 sister, Norma Lee Miller.
Betty was a member of the Community Christian Church of Jefferson City, Missouri and was also a member of the Chapter JB PEO in Jefferson City, Missouri, Heart of Missouri Human Society, Chas. E. Still Hospital Guild and "THE" Bridge Club.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri with Sam Houston officiating. Musical selections of "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden" will be performed by soloist, Cole Tippett. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
