Betty Marie (Blessing) Anderson, 95 of Queen City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.
The daughter of Roy and Pearl (Myers) Blessing, she was born on February 27, 1931 in a country home in Scotland County, Missouri. Later her parents moved to a farm south of Downing, Missouri. She attended East Lynn Grove School, where she graduated from the 8th grade and then attended Downing High School, graduating in the class of 1949. Later she went to work for the Hiller Insurance Agency and the Exchange Bank of Kahoka, Missouri.
Betty was united in marriage to Max C. Anderson on April 8, 1951 in the Queen City Christian Church by Reverend Hollis Bowen and to this union two children were born, Wayne Max and Beverly Marie. Max and Betty were married for 54 wonderful years.
Betty is survived by her children, Wayne Anderson and wife, Kathy of Glenwood, Missouri and Beverly Stevenson of North Liberty, Iowa; three grandchildren, Christina Morgenstern and husband, Chris of Kirksville, Missouri, David Anderson and wife, Elissa of LaPlata, Missouri and Alisha Mitchell and husband, Aaron of LaPlata, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Raven Archer and husband, Tyson of Downing, Missouri, Afton Morgenstern of Kirksville, Missouri, Bethanie Tippett of LaPlata, Missouri, Dylan Mitchell of LaPlata, Missouri and Hailey Mitchell of LaPlata, Missouri; three great great grandchildren, Rayleigh and Tucker Archer of Downing, Missouri and Zhanayah Morgenstern of Kirksville, Missouri; sister, Wilma Oliver of Kansas; brother, Robert Blessing and wife, Connie of La Grange, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Blessing of Downing, Missouri; nieces and nephews, other family members and many good friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max C. Anderson on May 18, 2005 and one son-in-law, Robert Stevenson.
Betty and her mother were baptized on the same night, March 28, 1948 in the Downing Christian Church.
Betty and Max farmed in the area, south of Downing, their entire married lives. After Max passed away, she moved into Downing and lived. Betty enjoyed her family, flowers, garden and music. She was a Sunday School teacher for the nursery class for several years. Later she became the organist of the Christian Church for over 40 years and enjoyed playing with Betty Drummond, Louise Fincher, Barbara Blessing and Donna Byrn.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Jake Levett, Pastor of Downing Christian Church officiating. Music will be special selections of “Through It All,” “Sheltered In The Arms of God” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers will be David Anderson, Chris Morgenstern, Aaron Mitchell, Tyson Archer, Dylan Mitchell and Henry Blessing. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Downing Christian Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com. Burial will be in the Coffey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
