Bettie Gene (Campbell) Phillips

Bettie Gene (Campbell) Phillips, 82 of Downing, Missouri passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.
The daughter of Cleo Eugene and Lillie Maude (Williams) Campbell, she was born on August 4, 1930 in rural Scotland County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Gerald Junior Phillips on April 29, 1962 and to this union a daughter, Sara was born.
Bettie and Junior lived their entire married life in the Downing vicinity where they were engaged in farming. Following Junior's death, Bettie began working at various jobs including CNA, Head Start and her last employment was at the Schuyler County Health Department in Lancaster, Missouri where she had been employed for a number of years. Bettie was serving as an Alderwoman for the City of Downing at the time of her death where she had served in this capacity for a number of years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sara Phillips and companion, Doug Hill of Greentop, Missouri; grandchildren, Allen Junior Ferdig of Queen City, Missouri, Destiny Ferdig of Greentop, Missouri and Ryan Rusk and wife, Shanea of Brashear, Missouri; 2 great grandchildren, Shevelle Rusk and Zannie Woods; 1 brother, Leo Campbell and wife Jean of Memphis, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Scott and Nancy Elliott of Downing, Missouri and other family members.
Bettie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gerald Junior Phillips who passed away on February 16, 1989.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church of Downing, Missouri officiating. Pallbearers will be Ryan Rusk, Mike Phillips, Tyson Vincent, Allen Ferdig, James Woods and Doug Miller. Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Elliott. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the graveside services at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for family.
