Alline Thomas (Griffin) Casteel

January 22, 1917 – March 12, 2014

Alline Thomas (Griffin) Casteel, 97 formerly of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri where she had been a resident since September 11, 2008.

The daughter of Carey and Myrtle (Chewning) Griffin, she was born on January 22, 1917 in Lyons, Kansas. She was a graduate of the Lyons High School in Lyons, Kansas. On October 9, 1945 in Lyons, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Ivan Eugene Casteel and to this union one son was born, Rodney.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Casteel and wife, Viorica of Lancaster, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, William Henry Casteel of Lancaster, Missouri and Mary Elizabeth Foerster and husband, Gene of Lancaster, Missouri; 2 great grandchildren, Angel Marie and Elizabeth Loraine Foerster of Lancaster, Missouri; 1 sister, Loleta Schill of Geneseo, Kansas; many nieces and nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan on September 9, 1995; an infant grandchild; 3 brothers, her twin brother, Allison Griffin and wife, Genevieve, David C. (Buck) Griffin and wife, Elsie, James William (Bill) Griffin; 4 sisters, Opal Evers and husband, Harley, Bessie French, Rena Amend and Pauline Griffin.

Alline and Ivan were farmers and also for nearly twenty years she helped Ivan managed the MFA service station in Lancaster, Missouri. Alline and Ivan spent many winters in Weslaco, Texas. She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith assisted by Walter Burnett, Pastor of the Community Christian Church of Downing, Missouri officiating. Music will be provided by Maureen Watkins, organist and Cole Tippett, soloist providing special selections of "In The Garden" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer". Pallbearers will be Jimmy Groseclose, Eric Groseclose, Ryan Groseclose, Charles Beeler, Quinten Smyser and Rob Formanek. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 5-6:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the American Macular Degeneration Foundation. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
