Albert "Al" Lee Ashmead, 88 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital South in St. Louis, Missouri.
The son of Carl Benson and Agnes Ewing (Small) Ashmead, he was born on July 31, 1937 in Bloomfield, Iowa. Al was a high school graduate of Davis County High School in Bloomfield, Iowa. On February 4, 1961 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Joyce Schlueter and to this union two children were born, Carla and Brenda.
Al is survived by his wife, Gerry of Lancaster, Missouri; daughters, Carla Stolte and husband, Mike of High Ridge, Missouri and Brenda Tinsley and significant other, AJ Terrill of Eureka, Missouri; two grandsons, Austin Tinsley and wife, Sami of St. Louis, Missouri and Dylan Tinsley and wife, Damaris of Cedar Hill, Missouri; sister, Mary Eaton of Sierra Vista, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Candy Ashmead of Tempe, Arizona and Marianne Ashmead of Moberly, Missouri; nieces and nephews, other family members and many good friends.
Al is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Ashmead and Jack Ashmead and one brother-in-law, Jerry Eaton.
Al and Gerry were members of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri where they attended faithfully.
During peace time, Al served with the United States Army.
Al loved fishing and was an avid outdoorsman and in later years, he enjoyed buying and selling cattle. Al loved his family and enjoyed nothing more than teaching his grandsons about hunting and fishing.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Brad Drummond officiating and being assisted by Aaron Gingerich. Soloist will be Cole Tippett performing selections of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers will be Austin Tinsley, Dylan Tinsley, Mike Stolte, AJ Terrill, Chuck Ambrosia and Randy Whitlow. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Lancaster Christian Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with military rites conducted by the Schuyler County American Legion Post 784. Arrangements are under the direction of Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
